Greetings from South Africa

For the first time in our 8 days in SA I have access to the Internet. We are as I would put it in Swedish ”baki-ashlet-pa-fan” ie SticksVille. After spending a few days in Cape Town….which is a big town…and everybody who knows me know I’m Not a City girl….but never the less it was an interesting experiance. A trip to the Table moutain with a spectacular view over the bay, city and Robber Island (where Nelson M sat for 17 years) was well worth the time. The thing that grasped me most though was our walk through one of the townships, with a visit at Philani Nutrision Center where they treat HIV positive mothers and children and where we also were invited to a few peoples homes, to get the full picure on how the live. It was more sad than words can express….and yet….there was much laughters and smiles too. We lunched in the township (kakstaden) and after that we went on tour through the area also known as Districts 6 and the museum created in its memorie. (Must read up on that dark episode of SA history. I realise I know too little of that.) After the Cape (which included a trip to the point where we saw whales) we headed for Stellenbosch for som wine tasting and looking at early Cape settlements and Cape-Duch houses. Nice and uplifting. Then it was off to Little Karoo and the oustridge farming country….a few in the group were brave enought to ride the feathery little buggers.
Last night we lived as kings (for the first night on this trip) in Outshorne, in a very loxurious hotel. To get us back on earth, that is compenseted by this and the last two nights in more meager accomodations, in the Tsitsikamma nature reserve.
I miss my family now!!! Miss sharing all the inputs and thoughts with Peter and miss cuddeling my two fury friends. My time at the keybord is up. (Peter I’ll see you on sunday.) To all a good night !
