We continue our trip east, into the area known as Little Karoo and the small town of Calitzdorp where we tasted some of SA’s delicious Port. We visit an ostrich farm were we also have a wonderful lunch….of ostrich of course. We learn that, at the turn of the last century when ostrich feathers were literally worth their weight in gold these luxurious farms, that more resembles Sand stone castles, got their nick name “Feather palaces”. (The souvenir shopping was superb at this stop!)We continued on to Cango Cave after lunch and took the short guided tour into these beautiful caves with there huge stalactites and telltale signs that this cave was used as home for as little as a hundred years ago.We continued to Outshoorn after that and lived “in style” for the first time on the trip at the Hlangana Lodge.
